KFC and Pizza Hut To Help the UN World Food Program Raise Money

Wfp_logo_home_transparentKFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell and other Yum Brands food restaurants are mounting a six week global initiative to encourage staff and customers to raise funds for the United Nations World Food Program.

Focused around the WFP's World Hunger Day on October 16 KFC, Pizza Hut Taco Bell, Long John Silvers and A&W will encourage customers around the world to add a small amount of money to their bill. During the Hunger Relief Week KFC will match each customer donation.

The two chains have 35,000 stores across the world, serving a total of 115m customers each week. The WFP feeds around 90m each year in more than 80 of the world's poorest countries.

Yum Brands (the parent company of KFC and Pizza Hut) is also encouraging its 1 million employees to organize their own fundraising initiatives and will be launching a global ad campaign which will encourage people to fight the problem of hunger by donating money online.

I FIND THIS REALLY IRONIC. KFC CONTRIBUTES TO WORLD HUNGER BY FEEDING POUNDS OF GRAIN TO CHICKENS TO YIELD A SMALL AMOUNT OF UNHEALTHY MEAT WHEN IT COULD FEED THAT WHOLESOME GRAIN DIRECTLY TO PEOPLE. KFC DOES MORE TO CONTRIBUTE WORLD HUNGER THAN IT DOES TO STOP IT.THIS IS LIKE MARLBORO'S HAVING A FUNDRAISER TO FIGHT LUNG CANCER! PLUS, HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THE COMPANY? ITS HORRIBLE ANIMAL CRUELTY. A FRIEND SENT ME THIS KENTUCKYFRIEDCRUELTY.COM LINK AND IT JUST TURNED MY STOMACH, I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN COMPANIES LIKE WENDYS AND BURGER KING AND NOW HARDEES ARE ALL WORKING ON IMPROVING THEIR STANDARDS
