A Truly Effective Craigslist Ad. Unfortunately It Was A Hoax

The online ad on Craigslist received quite a response. The offer: Craigslistorg_homepage500"everything in the house for free." The response: a house stripped of its light fixtures, hot water heater — even the kitchen sink.

The ad said, come in and take what you want, everything is free. Unfortunately, the owner of the property was unaware that the ad was posted, and the recently vacant property was left unguarded from respondents to the ad-hoax and pilfered everything including the front door and a vinyl window.

The apartment owner said she contacted craigslist and received an e-mail saying officials would need a subpoena or search warrant to release information about who posted the ad.
