Martha Stewart Creates "MySpace" for Adult Women

Martha_5Martha Stewart plans to start an online social network aimed at adult women.

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia has announced that the network, scheduled to launch in the second half of 2007, would appeal to women aged 25 to 45, and allow members to share photographs, scrapbooks, recipes and similar projects with one another and home design experts. The social network would be a dedicated section of the existing Marthastewart.com website.

MSLO's entrance into the social networking space follows the success of Facebook, Friendster, JibJab Media's JokeBox.com, Sisterwoman.com, and MySpace which boasts more than 56 million members.

It may appear to some that MSLO has a somewhat captive audience in Martha's fans. It will be interesting to see how successful this venture will be for them, with the growing number of BlogHers out there and crafty-types who will enjoy feeling like they are interacting more both with Martha and her team and other fans.

I stumbled across your blog while I was in the process of doing some online research. It's amazing how much of our social network is now centered around cyberspace in some way!
